Jasmine: Hey Mum! Jane: Hey Jasmine! Jasmine: Let's go next door and see if they want to play some music! Jane: Oh yes, that's always so much fun. Here's my clarinet, let's go! And there's Amber! Come on over Amber, we're going to make some music! Amber: Oh hi Jane, hi Jasmine Yeah, I'd love to come. (knock knock) Fergus: Hello there! All: Hi/Hello Fergus..... Jasmine: Do you want to play your guitar with us? Fergus: Yeah and Justin's here with his cajon, I bet he'd like to play All: Hi Justin Justin: Hello, you're right I would love to play! I bet Rolland would as well. Jane: Where is he? Justin: He's still asleep, I'll give him a shout...Rolland! Jasmine: Justin what's a cajon? Justin: It's a wooden box that you sit on and bang with your hands to get different drum sounds, like this...... And I've got lots of other percussion instruments too that anyone can use. Jasmine: Percussion instruments, those are all of those things that you hit or shake to make a noise, aren't they? Jane: That's right. Amber: Oh great, I'll have fun with those. Rolland: (Yawn), morning everyone! Everyone: Hi Rolland/ Morning! Fergus: Get your double bass Rolland, we're going to play some music. Rolland: Oh great. I love to play. Jasmine, what kind of day is it outside? Jasmine: Start playing and I'll tell you! Rolland: OK!
2.
Fergus: Here's Rolland! Jane: Here's Justin! Jasmine: Here's Fergus! Justin: Here's Jane! Amber: And here's Jasmine! Fling open the shutters wide. Have a look at the day outside. Blue skies too big for clouds to hide. Let the sunshine in! Feel the sunshine, breathe the air. It's a wonderful world out there, with lots of happiness to share. Let the sunshine in! When you wear a smile right across your face, you spread a little sunshine all over the place. To spread a little more of that sunny cheer, just sing a happy melody for all to hear! Doo doo doopy doopy doo. Doo doo doopy doopy doo. Doo doo doopy doopy doo. Let the sunshine in! When you wear... Smile at people that you meet. Skip along with happy feet. Hum a tune as you walk down the street. Let the sunshine in! Doo doo doo.....
3.
Amber: What a happy song, it really makes you feel good! Jasmine: I think one of the best ways of letting the sunshine in is making music with friends. All: Yeah, me too/I agree/etc. Jane: Oh, look there's Angie! Come and sing with us Angie! Angie: Well, there's lots I'd like to do today. You know me, always busy! But I would love to sing a song first. Fergus: So what are you busy doing? Jasmine: Tell us with a song! All: Yeah!
4.
When I see a puddle I just have to go splash! If there’s something to be done then I’m there in a flash. I’m a maker, I’m a helper and I’ll play ‘til I drop! I’m busy, busy, busy and I just can’t stop! When I hear music, I just have to dance. My friends always say I’ve got ants in my pants! I’m a whirler, I’m a twirler, I’m a spinning top, I’m busy, busy, busy and I just can’t stop! When I’m with my friends we want to run, run, run! We’re racing and a-chasing, having lots of fun. We scamper and climb, we skip and hop, We’re busy, busy, busy and we just can’t stop! When I see a puddle I just have to go splash! (I could go kite flying!) If there’s something to be done then I'm there in a flash. (Knitting!) I'm a maker, I'm a helper and I’ll play ‘til I drop! (Roller skating!) I'm busy, busy, busy and I just can’t stop! (Make a cake!) When I hear music I just have to dance. (Skipping!) My friends always say I’ve got ants in my pants! (Painting!) I'm a whirler, I'm a twirler, I'm a spinning top, (Hopscotch!) I'm busy, busy, busy and I just can’t stop! When I’m with my friends.... Well there are bikes to be ridden and trees to be climbed. There are swings to be swung and sledges to slide. There are ropes to be skipped and plenty more. I’ll be busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, busy 'til I’ve done it all!
5.
Angie: Well, that was fun! Right, I'm off now, but I'll be back later! Jane: She really is busy! Rolland: Yes there's certainly plenty to do! Justin: Well, there's one thing that I like to do most of all! Jane: What's that Justin? Justin: I'll tell you all about it! Play along will you!
6.
My Bike 04:52
Well, there are lots and lots of things for us to do nowadays, to have some fun and play there are many different ways. There are toys of every kind for every kind of girl and boy, you will always find a toy, a toy that you'll enjoy. But there's one thing that's always been my favourite thing, my prized possession out of everything. It's the only thing I know I’ll always, use, the one thing that I couldn't bear to lose... Jane: Well, what is it, Justin? It's my shiny, red, fabulous bike! My bike's a mean machine with me at the controls. It rockets, it races, it rips and it rolls. With my feet on the pedals, it's a speed mobile and I can very nearly, just about, well, almost, ride it on one wheel! Jane: That's so cool! It's my race-winning, wheelie-spinning, shiny, red, fabulous bike! Well, there are lots... There are roundabouts and zip wires, there are climbing frames and swings, and all a playground brings, like see-saws, slides and things. But there's one thing …. My bike's an off-road wizard, going whizzing over lumps and flying over humps and any sort of bumps. When we go bouncing down the forest tracks and splashing through the streams, my bicycle and I are like one animal, it seems! It's my downhill-flashing, lump-crashing, race-winning, wheelie-spinning, shiny, red, fabulous bike! Well, there are lots... Then there are cardboard boxes and pieces of wood and stones and old tyres and sand and mud. If you wanted to make a space-ship you could, or whatever you want it's all really good! The other day I made this amazing submarine out of 11 egg boxes, an old tyre and... Rolland: ahem, Justin! Justin: Oh, OK, I'll tell you later. But there's one thing … My bike and I go flying around a race track on the ground I made with things that I have found, using bits to steer around. We whizz around the obstacles and sometimes I just... slam on my brakes and do a great big skid there in the dust! (But don't tell my mum 'cos it really wears out the tyres...) And that's my dust-ripping, mega-zipping, downhill-flashing, lump-crashing, race-winning, wheelie-spinning, shiny, red, fabulous bike! Everyone: What was that?/What on earth/aargh! Etc. Justin: Sorry, I just saw the cymbal there and thought I’d give it a wallop. Fergus: We just need a bit more warning, mate! Jane: It really made me jump. Rolland: Yeah, me too Justin: OK, sorry, I just got a bit excited. So there are lots... You could go kayaking or go-carting or paintballing or rock-climbing or horse-riding or anything, but me, I'm going cycling! Because there's one thing …. My bike takes me to school, it takes me to the shops. I hope one day I'll be able to do those funny, bunny hops. Do you know the ones I mean? er... when you make the whole thing bounce, I saw this boy doing it the other day and it was so cool... Jane: Justin! You're in the middle of a song! Justin: Ok...Ok. It goes as fast as I would like and when I brake it stops. It's almost like a special friend who never gets into strops! It's my....er, can I...do the cymbals? Fergus: Yeah, yeah, go on. It's my super-sonic, speed-a-tronic, dust-ripping, mega-zipping, downhill-flashing, lump-crashing, race-winning, wheelie-spinning, shiny, red, fabulous bike! Fergus: Alright, alright, no need to overdo it! Justin: I just really like my bike. Jane: We hear ya! Rolland: He likes his bike! Jane: Yep.
7.
Amber: I meant to say before, I bumped into Freddy earlier and he's coming for lunch today. Jasmine: Is that the Freddy that loves playing cowboys, Amber? Amber: Yep that's the one. Fergus: Cor, that could be messy, have you ever had lunch with Freddy before? Amber: No, why? Fergus: That cowboy likes to play with his food. I can just picture him now, bananas at the ready... Jane: I like it! Jasmine: What does he do Fergus? Fergus: I'll tell you. In fact, we could make it our next song! Jane: I know! When cowboys get together to dance they like a hoedown, that's where somebody calls out dance steps to some thigh-slapping, foot-stomping banjo and violin music. Amber: Yeah, and the name 'hoedown' comes from the time when American farmers who'd been hoeing their fields used to put down their hoes at the end of the day to get together for the dance. Rolland: So how about we make this hoedown for Freddy! Fergus: Good idea Rolland! And here's the banjo! Jasmine: Yeah! Jane: Well, we don't have a violin, so a clarinet will have to do. Ooh, you've got a megaphone! Jasmine: What's that? Jane: It's that big horn-shaped thing. When you speak through it, it makes your voice loud and booming. I can use it to call out the dance steps. Are we ready? Justin: Yee har!
8.
Jane: Girls and boys, put on your cowboy hats and boots and stand in line for Freddy's Food Fun Hoedown. In between verses, I’ll call out Freddy's actions for you to do. No Jasmine, not with real food, we're just pretending. When you hear me say 'Freestyle' you dance like a crazy cowboy or girl however you like. Are we ready, starting Freestyle a 1,2,3,4, Freddy likes gherkins, Freddy likes peas, Freddy likes peanut butter spread on his knees. Freddy likes onions, Freddy likes tortillas, Freddy likes green beans stuck behind his ears. Oh Freddy, Freddy, what a mess you're in! You've got sticky stuff all in your hair and smears across your chin! (x2) Stand in line, it's hoedown time! Spread peanut butter on your knees, a 1, 2, 3, 4. Now stick green beans behind your ears a 1, 2, 3, 4. One step forward and touch the ground, then one step back and turn around. Swing your hips now, to and fro, Stamp your feet and away you go... Freestyle! Freddy likes parsnips, Freddy likes bread, Freddy likes grapefruits balanced on his head. Freddy likes pancakes, Freddy likes eggs, Freddy likes poppadoms covering his legs. Oh Freddy, Freddy... Stand in line, it's hoedown time! Balance a grapefruit on your head, 1, 2, 3, 4. Now slap those poppadoms over your legs, 1, 2, 3,4. One step forward and touch the ground, then one step back and turn around. Swing your hips now, to and fro, Stamp your feet for some more 'down-hoe!'. Cowboy style, now ride your horse, a 1, 2, 3, 4. Lassoo the lampshade, carefully, of course, 1, 2, 3, 4. Now one step forward and touch the ground, then one step back and turn around. Swing your hips now, to and fro. Stamp your feet and away you go.... Freestyle! Freddy likes walnuts and apple pips, Freddy likes olives on his finger tips. Freddy likes popcorn and cherries in a box, Freddy likes celery tucked into his socks. Oh Freddy, Freddy... Stand in line, it's hoedown time! Put those olives on your finger tips, a 1,2,3,4. Now stuff your socks with celery sticks, a 1,2,3,4. Now one step forward and touch the ground, one step back and turn around. Swing your hips now, to and fro. Stamp your feet and away you go... Freestyle! Freddy likes icing and cakes with a lot on, Freddy likes baked beans in his belly button. Freddy likes coleslaw and ripe mangoes, Freddy likes custard in between his toes. Oh Freddy, Freddy... Stand in line, it's hoedown time! Fill your belly button with baked bean-oes, 1,2,3,4. Squelch that custard in between your toes, 1,2,3,4. One step forward and touch the ground, then one step back and turn around. Swing your hips now, to and fro. Stamp your feet and away you go... Freestyle to the end! Rolland: Oh, Freddy! Jasmine: I'm not sure I believe all of that!
9.
Fergus: You wait and see... Jane: That's put me right off custard. Justin: It's given me an idea. Has anyone got any custard? Amber: No Justin! Put your socks back on! Fergus: I think we'd be safer with a picnic outside! Rolland: Good idea Fergus. But, we could still have some cleaning up to do! Jane: Speaking of cleaning up, Rolland, don't you guys ever wash up? Men: Er, erm, er... Jane: I like washing up. Rolland: What do you like about it, Jane? Jane: Well you can get a great rhythm going with all the different sounds that you hear. You know, the drips and splashes, the chink of plates. My friend mixed these sounds together to make a really cool rhythm. I've got it here, listen to this!
10.
Fergus: Groovy! Jane: I know, I love it! Amber: So, Justin, how about some washing-up then? Justin: What, me? I don't know what to do! Amber: Don't tell me you've never washed up before! Justin: Er, erm... Jane: Come on Justin, I'll talk you through it. Ooh, I feel a rap coming on! Jasmine: Go on, Mum! Well, I'm standing at the sink with my big toes tapping 'cause I'm starting to think about some washing-up rapping. When you do the washing-up it's fun to play around, with all the different noises of the washing-up sound. I hear the plip, plip, plip of drips as they drip I hear the chink, chink, chink of plates in the sink I hear the pop, pop, pop of bubbles on the top I hear the splosh, splosh, splosh of water as I wash. Do the washing-up. So Justin, what do you think? Do the washing-up. Yeah! Just show me the sink! So let's get on with the job, the plates are piled high. Let's get them nice and clean and leave them to dry. So put the plug in the hole, or get the washing-up bowl, squirt the soap liquid in, you're nearly ready to begin. T, T, T, turn on the tap and do the washing-up rap. We'll do the rap, we'll do the rap, the washing-up rap! Do the washing-up. Oh no, would you believe... Do the washing-up. ...the liquid's gone up my sleeve! The water splashes and swirls, getting deeper as it twirls. You swish it to and fro, making bubbles as you go. Then you turn the tap off when you see you've got enough and you're ready for the pile of dirty crockery and cutlery. So pick up a dish and put in with a splish and then scrub it with the, scrub it with the, scrub it with the, scrub it with the, scrub it with the cloth to get the dirt off. Do the washing-up Hang on, I can't find the cloth! Do the washing-up. Oh no, now the tap's come off! What? Only joking! Oh Justin! Where was I? If you've scrubbed it enough and all the dirt's come off, it's time to rinse it clean, I think you know what I mean. Wash it (wash it) wash it (wash it), turn on the tap. Wash it (wash it) wash it do the washing-up rap! Do the washing-up. There's water all over the floor! Do the washing-up. Oh no, now there's some more! For the final part of the washing-up sound, put your plates on the rack and let the drips drip down. The drips keep dripping on the draining board. And your toes keep tap, tap, tapping on the floor. We've done the washing-up That's a job and a half! We've done the washing-up. But it's still a good laugh! So that's the 'Washing-up Rap', it doesn't take very long, and then the 'Drying-up Rock', well that's a whole new song! What now? Pull the plug out, you've finished!
11.
Amber: Actually you've missed a bit. Justin: What? Amber: Only joking! Justin: It's not as easy as it looks is it? Amber: But you got there in the end. Rolland: Well, I couldn't resist adding a bit of bass. Jane: A bit of bass is always good! Jasmine: It was cool. All: Yeah! Jasmine: So a rap is speaking words in time to music. Jane: Yeah that's right, or in this case, washing-up sounds! Fergus: Yeah, I'm actually looking forward to washing-up later! Amber: I'm disappointed that I've got a dishwasher! Rolland: So, what shall we play now? Amber: I've got an idea! Fergus: What's that Amber? Amber: We've been thinking about going on holiday and I've started learning a few words of different languages of nearby countries. So, we could play a guessing game! When you hear the words that I've learnt, see if you can guess which countries they come from. Jane: Sounds fun. So, shall we give this one a laid-back holiday feel? Amber: Cool. Justin: Oooh, I know, I could play my horse, clippety-clop coconut shells! Fergus: Bring 'em on Justin!
12.
I'm going away on a holiday. 'Hello, how are you?' I'd like to say to all of the people I meet on the way. Guess where I'm going today! 'Bonjour, ca va?' means 'Hello, how are you?' Can you guess? Rolland: Yes, this is my country, it's France! Yes, France is the country I'm travelling to. Rolland: Bonjour, Amber, ca va? Amber: Bonjour, Rolland, ca va? I'm going away on a holiday. 'Hello, how are you?' I'd like to say to all of the people I meet on the way. Guess where I'm going today! 'Ciao, come stai?' means 'Hello, how are you?' Can you guess? Justin: Yeh, yeh, I know, it's Quimpland! Jasmine: Quimpland? Justin: I recognise the Quimpish, that's what they speak in Quimpland. Amber: There is no Quimpland Justin, you just made it up. Justin: No I didn't Amber: Yes you did. Are there any more sensible answers? Fergus: Yeah, I know this one because I have 'Italiano' friends. The country is Italy. Yes, Italy is the country I'm travelling to. Fergus: Ciao, Amber, come stai? Amber: Ciao, Fergus, come stai? Amber: Quimpland indeed... There's always one. Fergus: And it's always the same one! I'm going away on a holiday. 'Hello, how are you?' I'd like to say to all of the people I meet on the way. Guess where I'm going today! 'Hallo, wie geht es dir? means 'Hello, how are you?' Can you guess? Justin: I really do know this one, I’ve been there, it's Germany. Yes, Germany is the country I'm travelling to. Justin: Hallo, Amber, wie geht es dir? Amber: Hallo, Justin, wie geht es dir? I'm going away on a holiday, 'Hello, how are you?' I'd like to say to all of the people I meet on the way. Guess where I'm going today! 'Hola, como estas?' means 'Hello, how are you?' Can you guess? Jasmine: It's Spain! Yes, Spain is the country I'm travelling to. Jasmine: Hola, Amber, como estas? Amber: Hola, Jasmine, como estas? Well congratulations you lot, you've guessed them all!
13.
Justin: So Quimpland didn't get a look in then. Everyone: No! Justin: Alright, only joking! Amber: Honestly. Fergus: It is great though to learn some words from other languages. Jane: I agree. And something else that I love about travelling is hearing different kinds of music. We might hear Flamenco music in Spain or... Justin: I heard some Caribbean rumba music when I was on holiday. It has a great rhythm, like this... Rolland: I'll sing with your rumba if you like, Justin. Jane, play me a B natural please... and now a B flat... OK, I'm ready! Amber: I'll start that rhythm off! Jasmine: Let's rumba!
14.
I can sing a song on two notes one like this and one like that. The first is a B natural and the second's a B flat. I stay very still not too high and not too low, while the music all around me jumps about like so. The way I like to sing really saves my energy. I visit the B flat then I move up to the B. I don't go very far, I let others leap and run. I listen from my B's and I enjoy the fun. You may wonder why I chose to sing B natural and B flat. Of all the notes to chose what is so special about that. Well just as I said, they're not too low and not too high and when you hear my favourite things you'll soon know why. Bees and butterflies and buttons and bananas and brown bears and billygoats and buttercups and birthdays and blue- birds, balloons, bubble bath, beaches, beetroots and brass bands, so now you know I think that you will understand! I hope you have enjoyed listening to my two note song. It wasn't very short and it wasn't very long. It felt very nice singing this and singing that, enjoying the B natural and enjoying the B flat.
15.
Amber: Rolland, I can't believe you sang the whole song just on two notes! Jane: So, B's really are your favourite! No wonder you play your beautiful bass brilliantly. Rolland: Thank you, Jane! Justin: It's such a great dancing rhythm isn't it? Jasmine: Yeah! Mum, let's make up a dance! Jane: Oooh, Ok! Right, stand facing me and we'll start by stepping to the side the same way, step, step and then tap, tap, tap your stepping foot on the ground, then back the other way, and then...well, follow me!
16.
Step and step and tap, tap, tap. Turn around and clap, clap, clap. Reach your hands up to the sky, Flap your arms, pretend to fly! Jasmine: Look, Mum, I'm a dove! Jane: Fly little dove! Shrug your shoulders, high and low, Jump as high as you can go. Spin your partner round and round, then crouch down low upon the ground. Rocking sidewards left and right, now, jump to your feet like a rocket in flight. March with your partner for a while, then pull a face to make them smile! Jane: Oh, lovely! Raise your eyebrows, twitch your nose. See if you can touch your toes. Feet apart, now wiggle your hips. Tickle your partner with your fingertips. Justin: Ah, that looked fun, can I have a go? Jasmine: Yeah, come on Justin, I'll show you. Step and step and tap, tap, tap. Turn around and clap, clap, clap. Reach your hands up to the sky, Flap your arms, pretend to fly! Justin: I'm a pterodactyl! Shrug your shoulders, high and low, Jump as high as you can go. Spin your partner round and round, then crouch down low upon the ground. Rocking sidewards left and right, now, jump to your feet like a rocket in flight. March with your partner for a while, then pull a face to make them smile! Jasmine: Euh, that's horrible! Raise your eyebrows, twitch your nose. See if you can touch your toes. Feet apart, now wiggle your hips. Tickle your partner with your fingertips. Justin: Oh, no, I am out of here! I'm too ticklish! Jasmine: Hey, Justin come back! Mum, tickle him! Justin: Stop, stop, stop! OK!
17.
Jane: So Justin, now we know that you're ticklish! Justin: Oh no! Jasmine: What instrument were you playing, Mum? Jane: A glockenspiel. It's like a xylophone, but a glockenspiel has metal keys and a xylophone has wooden keys. It makes a pretty sound, doesn't it? Jasmine: Yeah I like it. Oooh, Mum! Try this new tongue twister that I made up! Jane: Oh that's it written down is it? OK, let's see. 'Ding dang digga boggle dip dop doo. Shooping shigga woggle hoo zop hoo!' Fergus: Hey, great lyrics for a song! Jasmine: Yeah! Jane: Let's try!
18.
Ding dang digga boggle dip dop doo. Shooping shigga woggle hoo zop hoo. Ding dang digga boggle dip dop doo. Shooping shigga woggle (clap) zop hoo. Jasmine: That was fun!
19.
Jane: Yeah! Fast and furious! Fergus: OK, I've got a rhyme for you.
20.
Some mice and witches came to stay. Can you imagine my dismay, when from my picnic bag one day, they ate all my sandwiches!
21.
Jasmine: Mice and witches, my sandwiches! I like it, Fergus! Amber: Jasmine Jasmine: Yes Amber? Amber: Try my rhyme Jasmine: OK! Amber: We can do it with a body rhythm. That's where you make a rhythm by slapping or clapping parts of your body. Jasmine: As if your body's a drum! Amber: Yeah that's it.
22.
Amber: So slap your chest with one hand, then the other, then clap. Like this... Keep that going and I'll do another rhythm over the top. I'll say the rhyme and you say 1,2,3 after every line that I say. Jasmine: OK. Three black cats 1,2,3 love three young witches 1,2,3 Three young witches 1,2,3, wave three magic wands 1,2,3, Three magic wands 1,2,3, touch three green frogs. 1,2,3, Three green frogs 1,2,3, Become three tall princes. 1,2,3, Three tall princes 1,2,3, Seek three princesses. 1,2,3, Three princesses 1,2,3, Ride three white horses. 1,2,3, Three white horses 1,2,3, Have three warm stables. 1,2,3, In three warm stables 1,2,3, Sleep three black cats. So....... Three black cats love three young witches Three young witches wave three magic wands Three magic wands touch three green frogs. Three green frogs become three tall princes. Three tall princes seek three princesses. Three princesses ride three white horses. Three white horses have three warm stables. In three warm stables sleep three black cats!
23.
Jasmine: Back to the cats again! Amber: Yeah, it would be nice to try that with other children that we know. Jasmine: Let's think of all of the children that we know. Jane: I know, I could try to think of a child for every letter of the alphabet. Jasmine: Yeah, see if you can! Amber: Anybody fancy playing a jig? It's music in triplet time, 1,2,3,1,2,3, that people dance to with lots of hopping and stepping. Fergus: Great idea Amber! Justin: I've got a Celtic drum here, called a 'bodhran' that's used in Scottish and Irish jigs. Amber: That's perfect Justin! And I could play the recorder!
24.
'A' is for Andrew, he likes to shout and sing. 'B' is for Barbara, she laughs at everything. 'C' is for Catherine, she loves to splash in puddles. 'D' is for David, he often gets in muddles. 'E is for Emma, her favourite game is 'Tig'. 'F' is for Freddy, his teddy's really big. 'G' is for George, he does cartwheels on the floor. 'H' is for Helen, she loves to paint and draw. Jane: I did it! A child for every letter! Jasmine: Yay! Rolland: Yes, and that is the great thing about people isn't it? We're all so different. Jasmine, tell me what you like about your best friend. Jasmine: Oh, we have so much fun together!
26.
I love to play with my best friend. Sometimes we choose things to pretend. We’ll fairies, queens or witches be, or mermaids in the deep, blue sea. But, ‘tho’ it’s great fun to pretend, my favourite playtime in the end is when we’re silly as can be and she’s herself and I am me. Jasmine: Sometimes we just giggle so much and we can't stop! Rolland: It reminds me of when I was a boy playing with my best friend when we were children. I loved to play with my best friend. Sometimes we'd choose things to pretend. We’d goblins, kings or wizards be, or pirates on the deep, blue sea. But ‘tho’ it was great fun to pretend, my favourite playtime in the end was when we were silly as can be and he was himself and I was me. I love to play with my best friend. Sometimes we choose things to pretend. We’ll giants, elves or dragons be, Or monsters in the deep, blue sea. But ‘tho’ it’s great fun to pretend, my favourite playtime in the end is when we’re silly as can be and she’s herself and I am me. he's himself

Amber: Aah, that was beautiful! Fergus: Hee, hee hee! Rolland: What are you laughing about Fergus? Fergus: Ha, ha, ha! Well, that reminds me that my friend and I had a really good laugh last week. It was so funny, I've just gotta tell you about it!
28.
What a chuckle, what a laugh, what a great giraffe we had last week. How we snickered and we sniggered, we tittered and we giggled. We could hardly speak. How we laughed ‘til we cried and we held our aching sides as tears rolled down our cheeks. We hooted and we howled, and we whooped out loud, We squealed, we yelped, we shrieked. We’d never before shared such a guffaw. It went on all day. How we ho’d and we ha’d and we hee’d and we hor’d. I can honestly say, we had such a good roar that we rolled on the floor, We thought it would never end. It was simply the funniest thing that we’d heard, Now, what was the joke again?
29.
Rolland: Well, what was the joke? Fergus: I can't remember Jane: No way! We're on the edge of our seats here! Fergus: No, really I can't. Jasmine: Well if you can't remember that joke, do you know another one? Justin: I've got one, I 've got one... How do you make a tissue dance? Jasmine: I don't know, how do you make a tissue dance? Justin: Put a little boogie in it. Jane: Justin, that is quite revolting. Fergus: I like the idea of a boogie though. Jane: Euh! Fergus: Not the kind you put in a tissue, the dancing kind! Amber: Oh yeah, a good old boogie-woogie! Jasmine: What's that? Amber: It's swinging, blues piano music that started in America, at the end of the 1900's, always with a repeating bass line. And people dance to it. Rolland: Oh look, Angie's back! Angie, you're just in time to play a boogie-woogie with us! Angie: Oh, you'll need some piano then, can I play yours? Fergus: Sure. Ooh, ooh and I could play electric guitar and harmonica! Amber: Well, it's nearly lunchtime, Freddy will be here soon. How about we finish up with this boogie-woogie? Jane: And a bit of tidying up? Amber: So, a tidying up boogie-woogie to finish? Jasmine: I like it!

Amber: Come on everybody, a bit of tidying up, please! Fergus: Well don't look at me, I'm holding my guitar. Jane: I can't, I'm going to play my clarinet. Rolland: I can't either. Justin: Nor me. Drumming. Amber: Such excuses you lot! How to get out of tidying up, eh? Well Jasmine, looks like it's just you and me, let's get stuck in! Jasmine: Yeah, come on Amber! Gonna tidy to the left, gonna tidy to the right Clearing up this room, until it's clean and bright. It's such a mess, that it will feel so good To make it look tidy like a nice room should. You see all the mess when you open the door. I can't even see the floor! Doo, doo, doo, do the tidy boogie Doo, doo, doo, do the tidy boogie Doo, doo, doo, do the tidy boogie Doo, doo, doo, do the tidy boogie Pick it up and clean it up and do the tidy boogie today! So, pick up your things and wiggle to and fro, with a skip and a twirl, put them back where they go. Oh, tidying a room can be so much fun, when you Do the Tidy Boogie 'til the whole job's done. Clear it up, clear it up! Spruce it up, spruce it up! Go on.....do the Tidy Boogie! If you think it's nice and tidy in your room, you could go one step further and fetch the broom. Oh, sweep to the left, sweep to the right, you could even sweep the cobwebs, give the spiders a fright! Brush all the bits in the dustpan and then, get on your feet and do the Tidy Boogie again! Doo, doo, doo, tidy up high. Doo, doo, doo, tidy down low. Doo, doo, doo, pick up your things. Doo, doo, doo, put them back where they go. Now clap your hands and wiggle your hips, and boogie from your toes to your fingertips! Doo, Doo, Doo...

Jasmine: What a great way to tidy up! Amber: Nice work Jasmine, that looks much better. Jane: And just in time look, here comes Freddy. Hi Freddy! What's that? Have we got any custard? No, no, we haven't. And actually, we thought we'd go for a picnic as it's such a lovely sunny day today. Come on, I'll lead the way! Rolland: I'm hungry, I didn't have any breakfast. Fergus: Here Rolland, help me carry the picnic will you? Amber: I'll bring a rug Justin: Come on Jasmine, I'll race you. Jasmine: That's not fair Justin, you're on your bike! I'm going to tickle you when I get there! Justin: Ooh, I'm off! Jasmine: Hey Freddy, do want to play cowboys? Angie: Wait for me, I do! Jasmine: Mmm, that was a lovely picnic. Fergus: Yes, if a little bit sticky at times! Jane: That's true. Freddy, do you always do that with jam? Only strawberry...the mind boggles. Rolland: And now a perfectly lazy, sunny afternoon. Fergus: What's that Freddy? You're disappointed that you missed all the music this morning and you'd like to hear some now? Jane: Well let's see if we can rustle something up. Amber: How about a waltz in 3 time? All: Yeah ok. Jasmine: Is a waltz a dance where you whirl around the floor with your partner? Amber: That's right. Jasmine: Come on Freddy, let's dance!

Making Music 02:25
Amber: Oom pah, pah. Oom pah, pah. 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3. Amber: Come on Angie, let's join the dancers on the dance floor! Jasmine: Move over Freddy! Justin: Has anybody got a song? Justin: Fergus? Fergus: Nope, I’m all out of songs for the moment. Justin: Amber, Angie? Amber: No, we're happy dancing. Justin: Rolland? Rolland: Nor me Jane: I’ve got one! Fergus: Go on Jane. Making music is fun, just like picnicking in the sun. But you'd better take care, and of cowboys beware, they might do something rude with a bun! Jasmine: OK, I’ve got one Justin: Go on Jasmine. Making music is sweet, just like sharing good things to eat. But you'd better watch out if Freddy's about, he might pass you the cake with his feet! Jane: Oh, that's true is it, Freddy? Amber: Anyone else? All: No/Not me etc. Justin: Well let's keep going anyway, maybe someone will come along who'd like to sing some more.
33.
Amber: Aaah, I've really enjoyed, making music today. All: It was great!/ Yeah, I have as well. Jane: Well Jasmine, I think it's time we made our way home now. Jasmine: Oh! Can't we play some more? Everyone else: Goodbye Jasmine, goodbye Jane, see you soon!

about

The Groovy Stew Crew France

I'm a reasonably cool Mum, who's passionate about music, children and education.
Much music-making during my childhood was followed by a degree in music.
A stint of homeschooling my daughter, Jasmine, sparked my keenness for writing children's songs, to help them to learn and to encourage them to make music.
